Back Pain Leg Numbness

back pain leg numbness
Back and leg pain.?

I have back pain that has spelled to my left leg. The little toe on the left is numb, and the back of my leg below the knee fluxucates between pain and numbness. I can’t walk normally, I limb, and I can’t sit for a long time. There seems to be no position that is not painful, even in bed, I have good and bad nights, I had to replace my mattress in the hope of sleeping better.

Does this sound familiar to anyone, if so, what works best? I have tried physio, as my doctor suggested, but the imporvement is hardly noticeable. I do stretches and go to the therapeutic hot pool daily. I have stopped taking my pain killers at the cost of enduring some pain.. My brother had a back surgery lately, and suggested I may need one too..

Any suggestions would be appreciated..

My mom had those same exact symptoms and she went to the Dr. and they dd x-rays and stuff and told her it was her sciatica nerve!

Neck And Back Pain Specialists

neck and back pain specialists

Back and neck pain can be inconvenient, frustrating and painful conditions that stem from a variety of causes. There is no reason to suffer from these conditions in silence when there are so many chiropractic treatments, including cold laser therapy, available that can prevent a reliance on anti-inflammatories and other pain killers, and provide vastly effective treatments.

Back pain can manifest itself in a variety of ways, through non specific and simple aches and pains, right through to slipped discs and spinal stenosis. Left without treatment, serious back pain can grow worse and result in long lasting damage to muscles and ligaments, so it is always a good idea to consult a specialist. For many, obtaining chiropractic treatment is the best solution to a whole range of muscular issues.

Neck pain is another condition that is closely related to back pains, and can be highly painful and irritating, often forcing people to change their daily routines until a cure has been found. Symptoms of neck pain can include pain, stiffness, dizziness and noisy joints, all of which can lead to anxiety and further stress. If symptoms include a pain that extends down the back and into the leg area, there is a possibility that you may be suffering from sciatica, another problem that needs fast and efficient action in order to be effectively treated.

One chiropractic treatment that is growing increasingly popular and can be used for a wide range of muscular and other joint complaints is cold laser therapy. This is ideal for applying to many ‘difficult to treat’ conditions, and can bring about great levels of relief for the most painful of problems. So for many new and reliable ways to treat back and neck pain, and even sciatica, call an expert chiropractor to find out more information and to book an appointment.

Chronic back pain l3-l4, l5-s1?

i have a chronic back pain for 4 years now, started with lower back, now to middle and upper back. i have tried so many options starting from physiotherapy to chiropractic, massage, homeopathy, ayurvedic, trigger point, etc, etc.. Now i think it is time to look at surgery. Anybody who had undergone spine surger in Singapore or India, please suggest me some reliable hospitals/doctors. Thanks and appreciate, Ram

Please think it over carefully! I had lower back / hip pain and thought I couldn’t take it anymore. Then In 2001 I had a s1-s5 bone fusion and now I’m on disability and wishing I had “only” the pain I felt before.Have you tried spinal blocks? Whatever you decide please research your Dr. and hospital! BEST OF LUCK!!!!!

Herniated Disc Spine Symptoms

herniated disc spine symptoms
Blood in urine, Pain in right side by ribs….What could it be?

Doctors have said that my mom could have HYDRONEPHROSIS, but she DOES NOT have problems urinating. She also has a BACK DISEASE called SPINAL STINOSIS, (A narrowing of the spine) A HERNIATING DISC in the L5 & L6, And BULGING DISC in her neck. She was starting to wonder if the symptoms of the blood in urine, and the pain in her right side could have something to do with her back problems. Besides that…does anyone know what it COULD be? ….Doctors in this area only like to scratch their head and take a guess..So if anyone could help, I’d appreciate it greatly.

Blood in the urine can be many things. Common causes can be a UTI which is easily diagnosed with a urinalysis and urine culture. Kidney problems and cancer can also cause blood in the urine. If she is not getting a diagnosis from the doctors she is seeing then she should find another doctor. Her spine problems should not cause bloody urine. Hydronephrosis in itself should not cause bloody urine unless the hydronephrosis is present because of infection.
She needs to see an internal medicine doctor who can start the workup. She may need a referral to a nephrologist or urologist if it turns out to be something complicated or not easily diagnosed by the general doctor.

Herniated Disc Healing Exercises

herniated disc healing exercises
How long to wait between two surgeries?

I need to have back surgery (fusion) due to a herniated disc. But I also want a gastric band before, something I wanted to do for a while because I'm overweight and I think the weight loss accelerates the healing of my back. The lighter I am the easiest is to start exercising again once without re-injuring myself. Healing gastric band requires very little, except for point incision in the skin. How long should I wait? Could I have LAP-BAND (Laparoscopic) one week before surgery? I asked because I am scheduled for back surgery the week before Christmas. If possible to have two surgeries so close together, I'll have my two surgeons communicate with each other in this regard. thanks!

Only your doctor knows the answer. But … Another operation will be scheduled before the first full recouperated.

Herniated Disc Healing Miracles

11/26/2010

I have leg pain 2 wks after discectomy. Has it failed? I had no leg pain for 10 days post op. I’m worried sick

I’ve had sciatica from a herniated disc for over a year. I eventually had a micro discectomy 2 weeks ago. Immediately after the op I had no leg pain at all – it was like a miracle. However, now, 2 weeks on, the pain has returned. Is this because of the healing process on my damaged nerve, or has the op failed? Has anyone else had a similar experience? My follow up appointment is not for another 4 weeks and i’m terrified that I’ll have to live with this horrible pain forever. I’m only 30 and the thought of that is awful.

I have had two discectomies and that’s been the typical pattern for me with both. I had the first one at 32, so close to your age too.

In my experience, the pain returned at that point because that’s when my surgeon encourages a slow increase in physical activity. At my 10-day post-op visits both times, I was given a sheet of very simple exercises to begin doing (tip-toe standing, knee bends, and walking 20 minutes on the treadmill 5 times a week). They don’t seem all that hard, but it takes much more out of your body than you expect! The increase in activity will bring back some of the pain, but as you get stronger and more active, it dissipates again.

Make sure you’re following the restrictions your surgeon gave/gives you, down to the letter and only increase your activity in the amounts they direct. Also, be patient and allow your body time to recover completely. They may call it “micro” surgery, but your body may disagree!

And one other thing – that 18% success that other poster mentioned? That’s a crock, unless you have a freakishly bad surgeon =:-o

Herniated Disc Ruptured Disc

Recovery from hernia surgery … tough question?

A few years ago I had an injury and a ruptured disk. I was 11 months without treatment, and eventually could not walk. My legs would not support me. I had surgery then, and had broken the record was actually a part of it off and embedded in my spinal cord, which had to be rescued. I am now in recovery. I was wondering if anyone had a similar injury and operation, because every time I try standing, it's not long before a cold sweat and dizziness effort at times. It is difficult to get answers on this particular set of symptoms.

Have you entered the cold sweat and dizziness because of pain? That's what I think, and if so, you need to be of painkiller drugs. The body has an answer natural pain too – it makes you lose consciousness, and it seems that is happening to you – or in the early stages anyway. With physiotherapy and time will improve (Maybe not quite), but until then you should be able to cope with the normal activities of daily life – if you need painkillers, which aims to the pain bearable. Go talk some more with your doctor. Good luck
