Lower Back Pain Exercises

Lower back pain exercises – low back discomfort is incredibly common among people of both sexes (over 80% of us suffer from it), but women especially tend to experience lower back pain thanks to pregnancy, carrying around groceries and kids, plus the ranges of motion required by the different tasks they perform every day.

In order to deal with low back injury, it is important to do stretching and strengthening exercises to help find severe back pain relief and prevent further symptoms.

There are two reasons lower back pain exercises are the best way to relieve and prevent lower back pain:

Exercise helps to strengthen and increase the flexibility of the low back muscles, meaning that the muscles are better able to handle the movements made in the average day.
Exercise removes some of  the tension from the low back muscles, and the stretches that accompany an exercise program helps to loosen up the muscles

If you are experiencing lower back pain, your first line of treatment should definitely be to do lower back pain exercises to help reduce the pain as well as prevent it from returning. Not only do strengthening and stretching exercises help keep your low back disorder from recurring, but they help speed recovery from any backache you may already have.

As always, consult your family doctor before you start any new program of low back pain exercises.

There are a number of strengthening exercises that you can do, and each one has its specific benefits for your low back. In only 15 minutes a day, these treatments are beneficial to recover from and prevent future injury. The health benefits go well beyond any investment of time or effort:

Abdominal Crunches are great low back pain exercises to help strengthen your core muscles. They help to strengthen and stretch your lower back muscles as much as they do your abdominal muscles.  Abdominal support is more important for improved back fitness than most of us realize.

Wall Squats are performed by pretending to sit with your back against the wall and your legs pushing you against the wall to support your weight. This exercise helps to work out your lower back and legs, giving them the strength needed to support your low back.

By raising your leg straight out in front of you and holding it there for 10 seconds, you are working out your upper hamstrings and lower back. You are also stretching your back and legs, and alternating legs ensures that both sides of your body get a thorough workout. This is particularly good as one of the lower back pain exercises you should do on a daily basis.

Pull a knee in to your chest as a stretch to loosen up the muscles in your hamstring and keep your lower back flexible. Alternate knees to loosen up both sides, and make sure to pull the leg tightly and stand straight for the most effective stretch.

Place your feet together and slowly stretch out over your legs and straight down, hold for 15 to 30 seconds. Be gentle, don’t bounce up and down. Just let the stretch happen. This will stretch the lower back muscles and help to improve and straighten your vertebra.

Get down on your hands and knees, and extend an arm straight forward. Extend the opposite leg straight backward, and keep your head steady. Alternate legs. This exercise is perfect to stretch and strengthen the lower back, and will help you build strength and regain mobility.

Lie on your back, knees bent to place your feet flat on the floor. Place your hands at your side and lift your rear end and hips off the floor with your back muscles. Roll as high onto your shoulders as possible, and hold for 10 to 15 seconds.

Lie on your back and bend your knees to place your feet flat on the floor. Place your hands on the floor beneath your shoulders and use your hands and knees to lift your  body off the floor to form a table shape. Hold for 20 to 30 seconds before going down to the floor.

Lower back pain relief?

my back has been hurtting since friday, but i believe i’ve stressed it a lot. I’ve been doing my back walkover alot. So it might be triggered by strain. Please help my out with advice to relief it. ANYTHING stretches or just anything thing. Im going to rest until around 6:30 then i have cheer practice, so please i really need your advice. Thanks in advance

Take ibuprofen, use heat pads or a hot water bottle on the area it’s painful. Look elswhere on the internet for stretches that could help out (I don’t know any, sorry) and try to sleep in a good position for your back, which can also be found on the internet. Google it xD.

Backache from the center of the spine?

I was a light chronic back pain since I was little a teenager (now I have 27), but this week I felt a pinching pain / stabbing. Towards the beginning of the week, he was extremely rigid and very hurt to any activity that must meet … which improved to mid-week (pinching pain is) much less common, but seems to have "improved" again. I'm just trying to understand what this might due to anyone who has experienced back pain for some time, I never had an ounce of pain / it before shooting. I wonder if it is a pinched nerve, and if so, what is the best treatment would be? I was made of light and the stretch, but nothing too painful not to aggravate the problem. I prefer not to go to the doctor or chiropractor yet. Is this something that could even benefit from restructuring of chiropractic? Any advice / help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Having lived with chronic back pain for many years, I would say is always better to err on the side of the caution I want to see your doctor and get his back looked. You may have a pinched nerve or it could be a herniated disc. Laying on a surface treated flat and lasts for a while. Sometimes I use heat pads / hot water bottles to relieve pain. Take your pain medication may be a suitable AMD anti-inflammatory drug (Talking to a chemical) may be that the adjustment from a chiropractor could help. I hope you feel better soon

I have 6 herniated discs in my lower back, and might have to have surgery, should I do it? or live with pain?

7 years ago, I let a friend rub my back because I had a back ache, the next day I could hardly walk from the pain I was in. It turns out she had herniated 1 discs in my lower back. I have had pain that has become chronic pain now for 7 years. I take alot of pain meds everyday because I have sooooo much pain, I can hardly move in the morning when I wake up. I just had another MRI done (7 years later, after the first) and found out that I now have 6 herniated discs. I suffer everyday and cant imagine living the rest of my life with this pain and the pain pills, so I have taken steps to learn to manage my pain better with classes in pain management. But that is not a cure all, and I wanted some feed back on back surgery. Thanks

Sorry to learn about your pain.

I am a senior citizen with multiple diseased discs and facets
and with a pinched nerve which destroyed the muscles in my left leg.It took 2 years to build it back up.

My Neuorosurgeon says there is nothing he can do in the way of an operation.However he recommended a pain killer called Gabapentin(300mg),which I have used for over 3 years with great pain relief.However,I also still use a Therapist and Chiropractor on occassions if the disability gets worse.

Like you the morning,when I arise ,is my worst time but as I move around it seems to lessen.At times I do not look forward to going to bed,but rest is also important.

I have very bad back problems. Everything is in the lower back region. The pain is unbearable …?

What I can do to get rid? I went to the emergency room and gave me muscle relaxants and pain medication but as soon as the drug wears off, the pain returns. Are there any exercises, stretching the resources? I have no health insurance so can not go to a routine check-up/physical or chiropractor. Bill visited the emergency room and is $ 900 and I refuse to dig deeper into more debt. and I can be a car salesman on Friday that requires standing all day if I have to do some thing fast!

Do not pull back, period. And muscles are in spasm, and that is what gives so much pain. Apply ice pack for 20 minutes, after 20 minutes. Repeat for get the swelling. If you have or can get, Valium 10 mg taken, get 3 creatures. Take 800 mg of ibuprofen and Valium every 8 hours, issued to the area day and night. Lie your back with knees high, not your legs together … only a pillow under your kness. Learn to sleep that way from now … never on your side! With Ice and drugs I've mentioned, you should begin to feel relief soon … was a reminder that sometimes I can not move … chiropracters did nothing, acupuncture does not matter, but what I say may be the cure. Good luck Once the pain is gone, you decide 2X daily exercise: Lay on your stomach, lift your shoulders and legs on the ground for 10 seconds, then slowly release! Repeat 10 times this morning and night … very quickly, improve your strength back and muscles to prevent this happen again.

Quand prendre un peu de repos?

Il semble évident de se reposer lorsque vous rencontrez des maux de dos et il ne peux pas de mal à le faire, mais pas plus que pour 1 ou 2 jours. quand vous prenez de repos pour plusieurs jours qu'elle va à l'encontre du processus de guérison et peut même l'aggraver. Mais la position que vous prendre le repos dans est également important, pour la plupart des gens la meilleure position de repos située dans le plancher avec des oreillers sous les genoux. Une autre position plupart des gens aiment est de garder les genoux et les hanches bande et laissez vos pieds reposent sur une chaise, elle prend la pression et le poids de votre dos. assurez-vous de garder vos muscles du dos chaud parce que quand ils se raidissent il vous blesser encore plus. Essayez de marcher autour pendant quelques minutes toutes les deux ou trois heures.

Instead of relieving low back pain (Advil, heating pads, rest), how can we avoid or stronger

I do not know if somethign wrong key, namely, hernia, hernia, etc, but for the middle day of low back pain, how to fix it? Is there some stretches exercises, which doing?

My husband went to physical therapy for his sore lower back and received a booklet with exercises to strengthen muscles and relieve pain. I did some research and the relationship between the exercises similar to those recommended. the only thing I have seen here is "Dead bug."
