Okay. So. I started school agian I have advanced dance class, P.E., and dance practice after school.Needless to say I’ve been working out alot! Ive been experiencing pain in the middle of my back for a while but the past 2 days it hurts so bad. I cant bend over the sink to brush my teeth.
I wonder if my exercising did this. I asked my mom who has had similar problems. She felt it and said she thinks I have a bulging disk. The left side of my back is swollen pretty bad.
What do I do to help it? I tried going to a doctor. but their next free appointment isn’t for a while. and i have to go to school. So until then I really need help and advice.
Swelling in your back does not indicate a bulging disc, despite the word “bulging” in its name. The bulging that occurs then would be within your spine and it would compress the nerves that run down the spine, causing pain.
If you have swollen areas on your back, there is probably an injury present. Ice it to reduce the swelling. You can take pain medicine (tylenol, aleve) if it is not bearable. Once the swelling has gone down, heating pads and massages can help the area heal faster. If the pain flares up, start over with ice again.

Can I use a mattress as a box spring for a new memory foam mattress?
I bought a queen sized sealy mattress from costco when I moved for school last year and since I have a contemporary style bed, the box spring looked funny. Thinking it was only to raise the height, I got rid of the box spring. Well now, 1 year later I realize what a mistake that was. I have constant back pain and my bed is just extremely uncomfortable. I don’t mind buying another mattress now, so can I use the current mattress as a box spring? I want to buy a memory foam this time because I have lower back problems as well as alwaying waking up in the morning extremely tired. What do you guys recommend? I would as the stores but I’m not sure if they’ll give advice that isn’t coming from a business standpoint for them.

You need a solid foundation under any mattress. IKEA sells these wooden slats for like $45 that can be used instead of a box spring. You might try getting something that or some other wooden foundaton. Even a piece of plywood.
You can also buy a memory foam top for your existing mattress for about $100.00. I have that and I love it!

Any home treatments I can try for a very severe pinched nerve in my neck?
I am a 22 year old male and I have been suffering with very severe and chronic neck and shoulder pain for a year and 9 months now. I have gone to two doctors, had two CT scans and an MRI (they found nothing but a pinched nerve-no disk herniations or anything)…I do ice and heat therapy every night, have done every stretch imaginable, been to chiropractors, etc…I am in so much pain it is unbearable at this point-the back of my head and my neck and shoulder are so swollen it’s ridiculous and I have weakness in my right arm now. The pain gets worse with every month…it did go away for almost a month about a year ago but has been back full force for the past year…I am at my wits end with this because nothing seems to help. Any suggestions from anyone? Anything will help me at this point…plus I know it is driving my fiancee crazy that I can’t move most of the time at night
I know you want a home treatment, but you didn’t mention a pain management Dr. I have found them to be extremely helpful, after 9 years of pain and no dr/phycial therapy/chiropractor helped much. Once I went to pain management, I was feeling better within a few days. It was a life changing experience for me.

was doing squats with 20 pnd dumbells, had pain for a week, now its very mild only when i sleep I feel discomfort.
you lifted the wrong way or twisted the wrong way. you have lumbar and siatica pain. my wife works lifting heavy things. she also has the same pain. she soaks in hot water and takes iburophen for the pain. you can also use a heating pad. try not to sit on your left side or sleep on your left side untill this gets better. hope this helps. good luck
