Severe Back Pain In Children

Could plastic on a mattress cause back pain?

I bought a brand new Serta Perfect Sleeper mattress and boxspring. I have the entire mattress and boxspring covered and zipped up in plastic because 3 of my children will sneak in bed with us in the middle of the night (we don’t usually hear them) and all three wet the bed. Those $50.00 mattress pads they give you with the mattress do not work against a 6, 5, or 3 year old peeing in the middle of the night so I had to resort to plastic. Anyway, whether the kids come into bed with us or not, I wake up constantly in the middle of the night in severe back pain from my upper back to my lower back. I feel like my body weighs 300 pounds and I don’t have the strength to roll over in bed. I’m sweaty all over and just completely in pain and discomfort. Could the plastic be causing this? If I sleep on the couch, I don’t wake up with back pain. I’m waking up at least 5 times in the middle of the night. What do you think it is? I just can’t imagine it being the mattress. My husband sleeps fine.

Most boxsprings are not flexible or flex very little now a days. They are rigid not much different than the plywood suggested. If that is the case don’t waste the money on a piece.

The plastic on the mattress should only affect how your body breathes on it. That is most likely your sweating problem.

The problem is space. Space is comfort. You have 5 people in a bed that is barely designed for 2, even if you own a king size bed. Don’t under estimate this we see it all the time. Get the kids in their beds, you will sleep more comfortably and relaxed and wake up more refreshed and so will the kids. Try it for a month. You’ll see unless your mattress is shot.
