 Micro Laser Discectomy® utilizes the following tools to correct spine problems
- Digital Surgical Laser (Holmium 22)
- Operating Microscope (Zeiss-Contraves)
- Microsurgical tools and Anspach Micro-drill
- Ceramic nerve shield designed by Dr Burres and produced by Lorenz, Inc
At this time, Dr Burres uses the Holmium 22 Digital 80 Laser, but in the future, newer and more powerful lasers may be available.

- Disc herniations, symptomatic disc bulges, disc extrusions, annular tears, subligamentous herniations
- Scar from previous surgery
- Exit stenosis
- Ligamentum flavum and adjoining tissue hypertrophy
- Kissing spines

- Can be used adjunctively in spinal fusion
- Osteophytes or spurs on facets, vertebrae, etc.
