Herniated Disc Epidural Injection Procedure

Cervical epidural injection?

I had an anterior discectomy with fusion, plate and screws in 2004. I have 2 more herniated discs, in severe pain, and having a cervical epidural injection on Wednesday. I’m nervous and would appreciate hearing from anyone who has had this procedure and the results. Thank you very much.

Beginning in January I had a series of three ESI’s (Epidural Steroid Injections) at a Pain Management Clinic. My experience was that while they were somewhat painful, I did get some much needed pain relief that lasted much longer than daily pain medications. They have worn off now and I am back to taking Oxycodone, so am planning to return to the Clinic for another series of injections, even though I have to travel to do so. You will be lightly sedated and it is over quickly, so go ahead – it is worth the try….
