Back Pain Tests
Need help with tests for back pain?
Long story short…I’ve been being treated by a chiropractor since March for back injuries sustained in a car accident. I have back pain and stiffness everyday, which comes and goes, and have never had a back problem until this accident. An xray in March showed no arthritic changes or disc problems, so I was told the problem is muscular. But a bone density test in May done by my primary doctor showed arthritis in the lumbar region, 1-4. The chiropracter says I must’ve developed it in response to the injury since I didn’t have it on the xray in March. I’m confused…and feel I may need further testing. The chiropracter says more tests are not necessary. A friend of mine is a medical assistant and says I should get an MRI. Does anyone know why arthritis would not show up on the xray but did on a bone density test? And what should I do now? I’m in my late twenties and want to do whatever I can to prevent this problem from getting worse.
Chiropractors are quacks……………….Go to a real doctor or live with this pain. I had Sciatica and saw a chiropractor to please my mom. $500 dollars and no help in 3 weeks, I wound up in the ER because of the pain. A steroid shot and 1 week later I was fine…………….Why couldn’t the chiropractor repair the problem like a real doctor ?????
